Jodie and Michelle were one of several sets of identical twins who were commissioned to take part in the ‘Pop Life’ show at Tate Modern in 2009. It was my luck that they were on duty on the day of my visit, a spectacular vision of blondness and multi-coloured polka-dots. Up until then I hadn’t asked any total strangers to sit for me but they seemed very approachable and loved the idea of the project. They even carried on being enthusiastic during the sittings. Matt, their admirer in the painting, has every right to keep an eye on them – he’s married to Jodie.
